The development of the halal industry was discussed at Prodexpo 2025

The Session on the Halal Industry: How Quality Turns Traditions into Modern Trends was organised by Roskachestvo – the Russian Quality System within Prodexpo 2025. The event was held jointly with EXPOCENTRE and with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

The event was moderated by Marat Nizamov, Head at the Roskachestvo Halal Competence Centre.  

The discussion was attended by representatives of state authorities, business and expert community, including Sergey Mitin, First Deputy Chair at the Russian Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Nature Management, Maxim Borovoy, Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Albir Krganov, Mufti of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia,  Maxim Protasov, Head at Roskachestvo – the Russian Quality System, Alexey Solodov, Vice President at the Russian Export Centre, and others.

The speakers discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of the halal industry in Russia and beyond: the image of the modern consumer, legislative regulation of the industry in Russia and friendly countries, prospects for mutual recognition of standards within the Eurasian Economic Union, the issues of product counterfeiting, and domestic demand for halal products. The participants noted that a high culture of consumption of halal products plays an important role in the catering industry, and the training of qualified personnel is one of the priorities for the further growth of the industry.

Special attention was paid to how quality standards for halal products help preserve cultural traditions, shape new consumer preferences, and create trends in the global market. The speakers agreed that the halal industry in Russia has significant export potential and the opportunity for sustainable development.

The series of events dedicated to functional, personalised and healthy nutrition will continue within the Roskachestvo programme at Prodexpo 2025.
