According to him, “a varied event program sets the main objectives of the food market development”.

At the opening ceremony First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yevgeny Gromyko said that “Prodexpo 2016 is a momentous event not only for Russia, but also for the countries and partners which plan to cooperate with Russia in the future”.

President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin points out that Prodexpo is one of the largest exhibitions. More than 60 countries participate in the trade show on the space of 100,000 sq m. In his opinion, despite the sanctions many countries maintain business relations with Russia. “More and more countries strive to enter the Russian market. No major exhibitors or partners left the show. Twenty-seven countries have their national pavilions. I am pleased to say that the share of Russian companies also increases. Today their number amounts to 1,400”.

Expocentre General Director Sergey Bednov announced the latest trends in the Russian food industry based on Prodexpo key figures. In comparison with 2015 the number of Russian participants in the Dairy Products and Cheese Salon increased by 20%, the Groceries and Cereals Salon – by 44%, the Meat and Meat Products Salon – by 33%.

The head of Expocentre also added that more and more new companies from different regions of Russia arrived at the show. Alongside well-known expositions from the Kirov, Penza, Kostroma, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, and Tula Regions, group stands from the Stavropol Krai, Kransnoyarsk Krai, and Tver Region first participated in the trade show. Crimean companies take active part in Prodexpo as well.

New companies from Nepal and Fiji also made their debut at Prodexpo. Iran, Sri-Lanka, and some other countries significantly increased their space.

Sergey Bednov also said that organizers continue implementation of the Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions project aimed to reduce the number of cases when counterfeit products are displayed at exhibitions. A special stand is available for everybody who wants to get information on how to protect intellectual property and trademarks displayed at the trade show.
