The 21st International Exhibition
PRODEXPO’2014

The milestone of the year for the food industry was the 21st International Exhibition for Food, Beverages and Raw Materials – Prodexpo’2014. The show was organized by Expocentre and supported by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture. It ran under the patronage of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Moscow City Government on February 10-14, 2014 at Expocentre Fairgrounds in Moscow.

The trade fair is an event approved by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) and the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF) that proves its compliance with the highest international standards.

International centers and the Russian industry associations, such as the Russian Union of Ice-Cream Producers, the National Packaging Confederation, the Center of Packaging, Labels and Design, the International ECO BIO Centre, the Industrial Centre of the Republic of Bulgaria in Moscow, and others have made an important contribution to Prodexpo’2014 development.

This year the show has beaten its last year’s record in the key figures.

On the net exhibition space of 48,733 sq m 2,288 exhibitors from 64 countries, including 35 national pavilions showcased their new products and possibilities. Prodexpo’2014 had 52,717 visitors, 94% of which were industry experts. The total exhibition attendance was 122,514 (according to RussCom IT Systems).

Prodexpo’s specific feature is a large number of national pavilions. 35 companies presented their national pavilions in 2014.

Such countries as Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, and Hungary traditionally arranged their multiproduct national stands.

At Prodexpo’2014 France organized its 20th anniversary exposition comprising about 60 participating companies on the exhibition space of more than 700 sq m. The Republic of South Africa made the debut, presenting its national pavilion.  Poland, China, the Baltic countries, and Paraguay have considerably increased their exhibition space. National pavilions arranged by Armenia, Marocco and Montenegro, which made their debut in 2013, also participated in 2014. Turkish national pavilion returned to Prodexpo’2014 after a long break. Japan, Brazil and Bulgaria also reappeared at the exhibition.

The Day of Bulgaria was held at Prodexpo’2014. Bulgarian exposition was arranged by the Bulgarian Embassy in the Russian Federation, the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, the Industrial Center of the Republic of Bulgaria in Moscow, and the Department of Trade and Economic Affairs of the Bulgarian Embassy.

Opening the national content programme, Bulgaria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation Boiko Kotsev said that Bulgaria was a long standing exhibitor of the largest in Russia and Eastern Europe Prodexpo exhibition, where Bulgarian manufacturers showcased their best products in their national pavilion. This year about 25 exhibitors from different sectors of Bulgarian food and processing industry have seized the opportunity to take part in the event. In Boiko Kotsev’s opinion, Bulgarian pavilion at Prodexpo’2014 is a tangible support to Bulgarian manufacturers of food and beverages in search of new markets. He thinks business contacts and discussions in the frames of the Day of Bulgaria will contribute to successful bilateral relations and development of Russian-Bulgarian economic ties. He expressed his appreciation to Expocentre ZAO for assistance in arranging the national exposition.

The Day of Bulgaria allowed the participants and visitors to the Prodexpo’2014 exhibition to learn about Bulgarian manufacturers’ products. There were food and beverages presentations, master classes on Bulgarian cuisine and dances, and many others.

This year Macedonia arranged its national pavilion at Prodexpo’2014. President of the Republic of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov, being on an official visit to Russia devoted to the 20th anniversary from the establishment of bilateral ties between the Republic of Macedonia and the Russian Federation, attended the Prodexpo’2014 international trade fair.

Estimating the tradeshow, Gjorge Ivanov said that at Prodexpo one could see food and beverages from every corner of the world. He expressed confidence that the exhibition would contribute to the further development of relations between the two countries.

Russian exposition was the most representative at Prodexpo’2014. 1,375 Russian food industry enterprises from all regions of the country showcased their products.

As the industry experts said the increase in number of national and collective pavilions testified to a growing importance of the Prodexpo exhibition among the leading food shows across the world.

Expocentre continued promotion of the Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions Project, designed to reduce the number of counterfeited products showcased at the exhibitions.

Specialists in the food industry assisted in solving personnel issues at the Employment Centre organized by Afina Recruitment and Expocentre ZAO.

Prodexpo’2014 latest development was the show’s VIDEO DIARY. A positive feedback from exhibitors, visitors and prospects testifies to the importance and effectiveness of the trade fair. The exhibitors’ and professionals’ opinions are available at https://www.prod-expo.ru/ru/videodnevnik/.

18 thematic sectors of the exhibition reflected the whole range of both Russian and foreign food and beverages, having demonstrated advanced food production technologies, innovative packaging materials, and the latest logistic solutions.

The 1st International Eco Bio Salon, organized by Expocentre ZAO jointly with International ECO BIO Centre (France), made its debut at Prodexpo’2014. The Salon put on display organic products certified according to official international and national standards. About 30 Russian and foreign companies took part in the Eco Bio Salon and demonstrated the products of more than 200 biomanufacturers from different countries.

At the Information desk of the 1st International Eco Bio Salon each visitor could get the information on bio products presented in every sector of the Prodexpo’2014 exhibition, see the Salon’s exposition, have professional consultations of the organizers – experts of the International ECO BIO Center. Visitors to the Salon took part in the Day of Organic Farmer held on February, 13, participated in presentations, tastings and eco-promotions.

Specialists from NaturEcoTrend, Owochowy Dom, Rhumveld Winter & Konijn B.V., Namaste, Premium and other companies put on display their bio products at the presentation area.

Prodexpo’2014 has traditionally hosted such salons as the Meat and Meat Products, Cooked Meats, Poultry, Eggs Salon; Milk and Dairy Products. Cheese Salon; Tea, Coffee Salon; Alcoholic Drinks Salon; Fruit, Vegetables Salon; Ice-Cream Salon; Packaging Solutions for the Food Industry Salon. All the salons demonstrated growth dynamics compared to 2013.

Prodexpo’2014 was traditionally accompanied by a rich programme of business-related events devoted to the relevant topics of the Russian food market; in particular to the Development Strategy of the Russian Food and Food Processing Industries, issues concerning governmental regulations and excise policy of the alcohol market, and development of the market of organic (bio) products, etc.

Summing up and awarding the winners in one of the most reputable Competitions in Russia - the 16th International Spirit Tasting Competition took place at the show. About 900 drinks from around the world, from Japan to the USA were presented at the competition. Such countries as France, Georgia, Italy, Spain and Portugal have considerably increased their exhibition space.

The Innovative Product and the Choice of Chains Competitions were held in the frames of the exhibition. The commission summed up the results in the 9th International Competition for the Best Food Packaging and Labels – ProdExpoPack’2014. The exhibition ended with the Award Ceremony for Winners of the Best Product’2014 Contest.
